Short Term Traffic Improvement Plan

Over the past decade, efforts have been made to improve traffic, parking, and public transportation to enhance quality of life, particularly mobility conditions. However, as is well known, very few of the proposed measures have been implemented, primarily due to the complexity of existing procedures and their lengthy implementation timelines. Meanwhile, the city's traffic conditions continue to change year after year. Expensive studies, by the time they navigate bureaucratic approval processes, often become outdated.

Short-Term Traffic Solutions

The SHORT-TERM TRAFFIC IMPROVEMENT PLAN, which we propose to municipalities, includes the following:

  • 1.

Review of all existing studies and data

  • 2.

In-depth understanding of the city and its problems, through on-site inspections and consultations with key city stakeholders (Municipal Services, KTEL [Regional Bus Transport], Police, etc.)

  • 3.

Proposals for one or more improvement interventions that could be implemented in a short time:

    1. Traffic improvements, such as pedestrianizing key areas, reducing private vehicle access to the centre, and offering public transport as an alternative.
    2. Parking improvements, such as implementing a modern controlled parking system.
    3. Public transport improvements, such as efficient intra-city transit with Park and Ride systems (parking outside the centre and continuing with frequent minibus services).
